REPORT | WU19 | Switzerland 1-1 Ireland

A stunning long-range goal from Sophia Leonard helped the Ireland Women's Under-19s draw 1-1 with Switzerland in an International Friendly in Spain.

With play ticking onto the seventh minute, Ireland took the lead with Hannah Healy sliding a pass across to Arsenal defender Leonard to lob the Swiss goalkeeper from 35 yards out.

It was a superb finish and Leonard's first for the WU19s. It also set Ireland up nicely as they dictated a lot of the play with flowing passing moves and an eagerness to break forward.

Switzerland eventually got one back on 73 minutes when substitute Lia Ammann found the back of the net to ensure that this contest would end on an even scale.

The teams will meet again on Thursday, March 5th as they both continue preparations for their upcoming UEFA European WU19 Championship Round 2 Qualifiers.

Ireland: Enya Carthy; Lillie Quinlivan Coulson, Lucy Fitzgerald (Katie O'Reilly 46), Clodagh Daly; Sophia Leonard (Kate Jones 75), Aobibhe Brennan, Katie Lawlee (Eve O'Carroll 60), Ella Kelly (Aisling Meehan 75); Lauren Bowe (Finlay Newell 46), Hannah Healy (Sorcha Melia 80); Hannah O'Brien (Della Cowper Gray 60).
