The three-day event will be held at The Convention Centre Dublin (The CCD), marking the first time the symposium has been jointly hosted by the two associations. Under the theme "Football Together for Health", the 10th edition reflects the spirit of collaboration that lies at the heart of the symposium, bringing together the two host associations, UEFA and EFC in a shared commitment to advancing player health, medical innovation and knowledge exchange across European football.
The theme also reflects the collaborative approach underpinning both the symposium and the two associations’ role in the joint hosting of UEFA EURO 2028. As part of the wider UEFA EURO 2028 legacy programme, the event will further strengthen cooperation across the game while bringing together experts from clubs, national associations and the broader sports medicine community in one of the tournament's host territories.
Held every two years, the UEFA Medical Symposium brings together leading sports medicine experts, football medical officers, researchers, club doctors and physiotherapists from across Europe and beyond, providing a unique platform for sharing scientific knowledge, discussing emerging trends and fostering collaboration across the football medicine community.
UEFA chief medical officer Dr Zoran Bahtijarević said “the 2027 programme will focus on integrating the latest scientific evidence into daily football practice; exploring innovative approaches to player health and well-being; strengthening cooperation among clubs, national associations, researchers and clinicians; and promoting long-term well-being and ethical responsibility in football medicine.”
Professor Tim Meyer, chairman of the UEFA Medical Committee, said “the symposium remains a forum for practical and scientific exchange, bringing together clinicians, researchers and medical leaders who aim to translate knowledge into everyday practice and respond to the physical, medical and ethical demands of the modern game.”
Dr. Hakim Chalabi, chairman of the EFC Medical and Performance Unit and UEFA Medical Committee member said that “the UEFA Medical Symposium exemplifies the collaborative and joined efforts UEFA and EFC undertake to equip medical and performance practitioners across European Football with the knowledge, experience, and network needed to deliver the best possible player care.”
