A single goal was the difference as the Ireland Men’s Under-17s lost 1-0 to the Netherlands in an International Friendly in La Quinta, Spain.

In what was the second of three games in Spain – following a 1-1 draw with USA – the Boys in Green fell behind on 24 minutes when Dutch forward Jerayno Hunte found the back of the net.

Ireland matched their opponents in almost every area as the game turned out to be a close contest, but they just could not find the goal to draw them level.

Dutch goalkeeper Guus Olgers made two big saves just past the hour mark to firstly deny substitute Caleb Sweeney and then shut out midfielder Cillian Murphy.

Ireland are next up against Norway on Tuesday, October 6th to close out this series of games.
