The 18-year-old has traveled to Murcia, Spain, to link up with the squad following the withdrawal of Cardiff City defender Joel Bagan and Ipswich Town winger Kasey McAteer, who have both been ruled out through injury.
Finneran, who joined Newcastle United in 2024 from Blackburn Rovers, received permission from his club to join the senior international setup. He will now be in contention to make his senior international debut against Grenada at the Estadio Nueva Condomina on Saturday, May 16th, with kick-off at 5:00 PM (6:00 PM local time).
A consistent performer through the Republic of Ireland under-age system up to Under-19 level, Finneran was a key member of the Ireland Under-17 squad that featured at the FIFA U17 World Cup in Qatar last year.
The squad continues its preparations in Murcia today as they build toward the first of three international fixtures over the course of three weeks.
