Match Preview | Republic of Ireland v Austria

The Republic of Ireland will be targeting back-to-back wins when they welcome Austria to the Aviva Stadium tomorrow night.

Ireland secured their first UEFA Nations League victory of the campaign with an emphatic performance against Israel on Sunday, scoring three goals before the break to seal the win.

Troy Parrott, Adam Idah, and Jack Moylan were all on target in that fixture, and they will be hunting a similar result against an Austrian side that has won both of its opening games against Israel and Kosovo by a score of 3-1.

Team News

Bosun Lawal has linked up with the squad and whilst Heimir Hallgrímsson has suggested he won't be ready to play tomorrow night, he is managing his recovery from injury with the group. Josh Keeley has linked up with the squad as well as a fourth goalkeeper and will travel to Serbia for the Israel fixture.

Press Conference | Head Coach Heimir Hallgrímsson

"Gavin is a great lad. I’ve always had a good relationship with him. It’s probably been tougher for him than the other players, but they have really welcomed him back. He is taking part in an amazing way, and I think it shows his character to be here with us.

"I want to praise him for that, and praise the players for how they have welcomed him. Life goes on, he is part of this group, and it shows how strong the bond is between these players. Even a situation like this is not breaking us. We are sticking together and moving forward.

"We are football players, and our lives revolve around winning matches. That gives us joy and always helps the mood. We had a day off after the game in Hungary where the players went home to their families. I saw that the players needed that time without the outside noise. It was a good thing to just see life from a football perspective again. The mood is good.

"It’s nice to have Bosun Lawal in the squad; he is back with us now. He isn’t ready to play yet, but we are managing his recovery with Stoke City. Jonathan Walters has been fantastic in allowing him to come and understanding that we need him in preparation for these games, especially as we face Austria again next month. We have also called in Josh Keeley as a support goalkeeper for this camp and for the travel to Serbia."
