Ireland Women's & Men's Teams ready for 2024 Homeless World Cup

The 2024 Homeless World Cup gets underway on Saturday, September 21st in Seoul, South Korea with two Ireland teams involved.

The Women's and Men's teams are made up of players from the Irish Street Leagues who will compete in this 4v4 format played on artificial pitches with rolling substitutions permitted.

Across eight days there will be 52 different teams representing 38 nations in the tournament, which is being held in Asia for the first time, with 450 players set to take part.

This is the 19th edition of the competition with Men's and Women's teams catered for since 2010. Ireland have a strong history of being involved with two fifth-placed finishes for the Men's Team and a fourth-place finish achieved by the Women's Team in Sacramento last year.

Led by dedicated volunteers Chris O'Brien and Sean Kavanagh from the Irish Street Leagues, the two teams are made up of players using the power of football to transform their lives.

The players have come through personal struggles and overcome various obstacles in their respective lives to reach this international stage. They are coached by Graham Tucker and Mary Byrne.

Sky Ireland helped to provide kit courtesy of their sponsorship with the Ireland National Teams, having first come together through a link up with the WNT in 2021.
