Nominations for the FAI Grassroots Volunteer Awards are now open.

There will be seven categories for the FAI Grassroots Volunteer Awards with the deadline for nominations on Friday, October 30th.

The criteria for those categories are as follows:
 

Volunteer of the Year 
This award celebrates a volunteer whose tireless work keeps their club or league running smoothly. It celebrates those whose dedication behind the scenes ensures players, coaches, and supporters have a safe, organised, and welcoming environment. 

 
Young Volunteer of the Year (Ages 16-24) 
This award celebrates an exceptional young person aged 16 to 24 who gives their time as a volunteer. It celebrates young people who demonstrate remarkable leadership, inspire their peers, and help drives football within their community. 

Noel O’Reilly Male Volunteer Coach of the Year 
This award celebrates a male coach who goes above and beyond to foster a positive, safe, and encouraging environment. Celebrating coaches across underage, youth and adult grassroots football, it recognises those who prioritise player development, sportsmanship, and enjoyment. 
 

Noel O’Reilly Female Volunteer Coach of the Year 
This award celebrates a female coach who goes above and beyond to foster a positive, safe, and encouraging environment. Celebrating coaches across underage, youth and adult grassroots football, it recognises those who prioritise player development, sportsmanship, and enjoyment. 

Women/Girls Volunteer of the Year 
Champions growing the female game. This award celebrates a volunteer of any gender whose efforts are dedicated to expanding opportunities for women and girls in football. Whether establishing new girls’ teams, driving participation initiatives, or building sustainable player pathways, this award celebrates those breaking down barriers for female players. 

Disability / Football for All Volunteer of the Year 
This award celebrates a volunteer dedicated to breaking down barriers through disability football, cross-community initiatives, mental health projects, or social inclusion programmes. It celebrates those who champion equality and diversity, ensuring that football is safe, welcoming, and open to all underrepresented groups. 

Schools/Third Level Volunteer of the Year 
Bridging the gap between education and football. This award celebrates a volunteer operating within primary, secondary, or tertiary education (colleges/universities). It celebrates those who build strong, sustainable opportunities for students to participate in football.
