The Irish football community has the opportunity to help shape the future of disability football as the Football Association of Ireland begins work on a new action plan.

Stakeholders throughout football in Ireland are asked to contribute to a national survey that will form the building blocks of one of the Association’s key priorities – the Disability Football Action Plan.

Feedback will help identify opportunities and challenges, with the ambition of creating more opportunities for people with disabilities to participate, develop and enjoy football.

FAI National Disability Lead Declan Barron said: “The 2027 Disability Football Action Plan will be one of the largest bodies of work on disability football in Ireland and is one of our associations key priorities.

 “Football remains the most participated sports in the country, and we want to continue to make it accessible for more people from all backgrounds. 

“For us to achieve this, it is important that people with experiences whether playing, organising, resourcing, or supporting those with a disability in football have their say through this survey.

“Their feedback could be the key detail in ensuring more people are playing the game, and people shouldn’t underestimate the impact their views may have.”
