BU16 | Ireland to head to Finland for friendly series

The Republic of Ireland Boys Under-16s will head to Finland for a three-day development tournament this week.

Ireland face Latvia (Saturday, May 2), Finland (Monday, May 4) before ending the friendly series against Iceland (Thursday, May 7) in what will their final games of the international season.

FAI Technical Director of Football Shane Robinson said: “In the space of just three weeks we’ve worked with 30 players, across two international camps, including 11 changes to this squad, with 26 of those players coming through League of Ireland academies. This reflects our deliberate approach to broaden the player pool and expose more players to the international pathway ahead of competitive action next season.” 

Republic of Ireland Boys Under-16s Squad

Goalkeepers: Alex Byrne (Shamrock Rovers), Charlie McGarvey (Sligo Rovers).

Defenders: Max Afonin (Shamrock Rovers),  Jack Corbally (Bohemians), Luke Fitzsimons (St.Patrick’s Athletic), Ashton Gunning (Aston Villa), Jayden Marshall (Shamrock Rovers), Joe Mckeon (Shelbourne), Charlie Nolan (Shamrock Rovers).

Midfielders: Aydin Alivey (SpVgg Greuther Fürth), Adrian Rascau (Bohemians), Josh O’Dwyer (Shamrock Rovers), Bobby Zeller (Shamrock Rovers).

Forwards: Sheikhan Aljabir (Shelbourne), Ciaran Daly (Shamrock Rovers), Blake Devereux-Lynch (St. Patrick’s Athletic), Corey Fay (Shamrock Rovers), Ethan Kelly (St. Patrick’s Athletic), Ben Lyne (Manchester United), Archie Quinn (Shamrock Rovers).
