Lourdes Celtic link up with Dyspraxia
The section is being set up with the assistance of the FAI in conjunction with the Football for All programme and will give children with dyspraxia the basic football skills and confidence and after a period of coaching will allow these children to go enjoy the game with their friends.
An open day will be held on Sunday the 21 March (12pm - 1.30pm) for players with disabilities and coaches wishing to participate in this programme of football for all.
All Lourdes Celtic teams will also play their part in raising awareness for the disability by wearing the Dyspraxia Logo on their jerseys. This will be a gradual process being rolled out over the next 12 months.
Dyspraxia is a little known condition that affects 6% of children. Often mistaken for dyslexia, dyspraxia affects a child's balance and coordination. There is no cure for Dyspraxia but the earlier a child is treated, the greater the chance of improvement. Football coaching will allow them to work on and improve their coordination, orientation awareness and body positioning.
