Knocklyon United host Mixed Mini World Cup

Dublin's Knocklyon United hosted a successful Mixed Mini World Cup over the weekend.
8th Jul 2019

16 teams took part in the competition and were a mixture of mainstream and special needs children who blended together to compete through the rounds which saw Mexico eventually lift the cup.

The brainchild of former DDSL Vice Chairman Mick Kennedy (now Director of Football at Knocklyon United), this event saw Knocklyon team up with Knocklions Special Olympics to create this wonderful inclusive Football For All event.

Minister for Children Katherine Zappone and Shamrock Rovers star Dylan Watts presented the trophy and medals on the day.

Clubs from Cabinteely FC, Down Syndrome Dublin, Dundrum Special Olympics, Hartstown Huntstown FC, Knocklyon United, Knocklions Special Olympics, Leicester Celtic, Lourdes Celtic, Malahide United, Sacred Hearts, Spectrum Kids Fitness and Terenure Rangers all took part in the competition.
