Kickstart to Recovery a huge success in Cavan

The Kickstart to Recovery programme proved to be hugely popular in Cavan following a successful roll out thanks to support from the HSE and the Cavan Sports Partnership.

The aim of the programme is to provide mental health service users with an opportunity to engage in a therapeutic, activity focused and community based group.

Participants took part in football training sessions for eight weeks at the Cavan Leisure Centre in Cavan Town, with the final week finishing in an exciting match against local FAI and HSE staff. A warm cup of tea and a match debrief was always part of the weekly proceedings.

The Kickstart to Recovery Programme reported huge benefits for the participants, with significant increases in physical fitness, self-esteem and confidence.

The group in Cavan look forward to engaging again in 2022 and many of these successful programmes will take place right across the country.
