In the opening game of group G in the Homeless World Cup, Ireland scored an impressive 15 goals against a Romanian team who were completely outclassed. The full Irish squad got a run out during the game instilling confidence that this Irish outfit is well prepared both technically and physically for this World Cup campaign.

With Ciaran Murphy scoring an impressive 5 goals and Karl Jess. Jordan Murphy, Graham Tucker and Limerick's Michael O'Connell all adding to the goal tally, it augurs well for the goal scoring ability of this team and with a defense that gave the Romanians little opportunity. The boys in green are confident that they can emerge from this group into the 2nd qualifying stage.

Ireland will take on Canada, Mexico and Cambodia in the group. Next up, Ireland play Mexico on Monday 27th which will be a pivotal game in the group against a team considered to be a formidable side.

Jimmy Bell, Republic of Ireland manager, said, "The lads stuck to our game plan and the hard work they have put in over the last couple of months paid dividends today."
