Future Football Cup

Finals Day 2014 was held on 11th October at the AVIVA stadium, with the finalists in each format (4v4 & 7v7) playing an exhibition game on the AVIVA pitch at half time of the senior international between Ireland and Gibraltar.

The format for the cup competition was the same as the Football Fun Days, Small Sided Games – 4v4 for under 8s, 5v5 for under 9s; and 7v7 for under 10s, with competitions being run for mixed teams (boys and girls).

  • 4v4 games will be played between teams of 4 players + a maximum of 2 subs (6 players in total)
  • 5v5 games will be played between teams of 5 players + a maximum of 3 subs (8 players in total)
  • 7v7 games will be played between teams of 7 players + a maximum of 3 subs (10 players in total)

Success in the Cup Competition was determined by a number of factors, not solely on winning. In what is a shift away from the traditional over emphasis on ‘winning’,  other elements being taken into account. These elements are focused on participation, inclusion, and having the correct ‘ethos’ – both on and off the field. Extra points will be awarded for

  • Sporting Behaviour
  • Teamwork
  • Respect
