Women's Football Festival proves big hit in Cork

Over 100 women took part in a Women's Football Festival in Cork as part of the ongoing development of women & girls' football in the Munster region.

A Kick Fit Blitz was followed by a Walking Football Blitz in Virgin Media Park with groups of women from various parts of the country taking part.

The two events, which were both played as 7-a-side games, proved to be very popular with Kick Fit designed as a competitive format for any woman to get involved in, while there was plenty of competition in the Walking Football event.

FAI Development Officer Conor McKahey said: "We were thrilled to see over 100 women taking part in the Women's Football Festival in Cork. The event at Virgin Media Park hosted both a Kick Fit Blitz & Women's Walking Football Blitz. The sun was out and it was great to see so many women enjoying the beautiful game. It was a great day to showcase the different options of football available to women in Ireland."
