REPORT | GU16 | Ireland 1-1 Switzerland

Hailey Twomey scored for Ireland Girls' Under-16s in a 1-1 draw with Switzerland in an International Friendly in the FAI National Training Centre.

The Shamrock Rovers player scored in the 29th minute on what was her 16th birthday in a game that Ireland won 5-4 in a penalty shoot-out.

In what was the first of two games on home soil, the Girls in Green impressed against a very good opponent with some excellent patterns of play produced.

The attacking quartet of Halle Harcourt, Abbie Duffy, Ciara Milton and Twomey were a constant threat, while substitutes Kate Harkins and Mia Whelan also caught the eye.

Defensively, Ireland were strong - despite conceding once - and should be pleased overall with they clicked as a unit, even if there is still more to be done as they move forward.

Ireland: Sarah Doyle; Ava Kelly (Keela Donnelly Meehan 70), Lara Dallaghan (Sky Barrett 80), Ruby Boland (Laila Hurley 70), Ava Hallinan; Ellen Goggin, Ruby Norris (Fiadh Woods 60); Halle Harcourt (Leah O'Leary Callendar 60), Abbie Duffy (Maisy Healy 60), Hailey Twomey (Kate Harkins 70); Ciara Milton (Mia Whelan 70).
