WNT Head Coach Carla Ward is keeping a close eye on players available as preparation continues for the Promotion / Relegation Play-Off with Belgium in Aviva Stadium on Friday, October 24th.

A number of players who are on Ward's radar earned moves, including Katie Keane (Shamrock Rovers to Leicester City), Jess Hennessy (Nottingham Forest to Bournemouth) and Claire Walsh (Glasgow City to Celtic), while Megan Campbell has started her coaching journey with Bolton Wanderers. But the below list focuses on players who have been part of recent squads.
Here is a closer look at the players who have found new clubs over the summer:
Grace Moloney
Position: Goalkeeper
Transfer: Free Agent to Sunderland
Following a stint with London City Lionesses, the veteran stopper spent time training with Southampton before sealing a move to Sunderland in England’s WSL 2. The seven-times-capped WNT international will be keen to rack up more minutes as she embraces a new challenge in her career.
Heather Payne
Position: Defender
Transfer: Everton to Leicester City
Several clubs were interested in signing the Ballinasloe native once she departed Everton after a two-year period but she opted to join The Foxes. Blessed with electric pace and an engine that never burns out, Payne can operate at full-back, on the wing or up front.
Aoife Mannion
Position: Defender
Transfer: Manchester United to Newcastle United
After helping Manchester United win the FA Women’s Cup in 2024, Mannion has decided to freshen things up by switching to an ambitious Newcastle United team who will be amongst the favourites to clinch promotion from WSL 2. This move comes at a good time for the 29-year-old and she will be ready for it.
Chloe Mustaki
Position: Defender
Transfer: Bristol City to Nottingham Forest
Two impressive performances against the United States in June put Mustaki back in the WNT mix and she will be eager to build up some momentum with this transfer to Nottingham Forest. The left-sided defender will feel that this is her time to establish herself as a regular for club and country, so it's an exciting period ahead.
Jamie Finn
Position: Midfielder
Transfer: Birmingham City to Sunderland
The Dubliner will feel that she has lost too much time due to a knee injury picked up on Ireland duty, but if anyone puts in the extra work required it is Finn. She can play at full-back or at centre-back but, arguably, her best position is in centre midfield and that is where she will be hoping to clock up minutes with The Black Cats.
Tyler Toland
Position: Midfielder
Transfer: Blackburn Rovers to Durham
Still only 24 years of age, Toland has gained a lot of experience since making her WNT as a teenager in 2017. Last season saw her captain Blackburn Rovers, but now she will look to settle in quickly with Durham who finished fourth in the second tier of English football last season. The crafty midfielder will be fired up to get into form ahead of the WNT v Belgium games in October.
Erin McLaughlin
Position: Forward
Transfer: Portsmouth to Glasgow City
A late call-up to the WNT squad, as an injury replacement, will have given McLaughlin confidence that she is being monitored by the Ireland coaching staff. Perhaps a fresh move to Glasgow City will propel her forward even more following a mixed experience at Portsmouth. The attacker still has her best days ahead of her.
Izzy Atkinson
Position: Defender / Forward
Transfer: Crystal Palace to Sunderland
There were different options to consider once Atkinson knew that she wanted to move away from Crystal Palace, so joining a strong irish cohort in Sunderland could prove to be a wise decision. She has been excellent in pre-season and brings a different dynamic due to being able to play at full-back, on the wing or up front - most affectively when used on the left flank.
