WNT squad finalised for International Friendly with Hungary

The Ireland Women’s National Team will bring a squad of 23 players to Spain for a training camp and a behind-closed-doors International Friendly with Hungary to close out the year.

After securing promotion to League A in the UEFA Nations League and discovering their opponents for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup Qualifiers, Ireland are keen to make the most of a week-long training camp in Marbella, Spain that will conclude with the game against Hungary.

Defenders Heather Payne (Achilles) and Megan Connolly (foot) are ruled out along with midfielder Lily Agg (knee), while Jess Ziu and Amber Barrett are being afforded extra time to recover from knocks.

Goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan and forward Leanne Kiernan both return to the squad after missing the Promotion / Relegation Play-Off with Belgium, while defender Tara O’Hanlon is called up following impressive form for Sunderland and will be aiming to add to the two WNT appearances she earned in 2023.

Former WU19 international Kelly Brady receives her first official senior call-up after training with the squad in October. The 23-year-old forward picked up the SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division Player of the Year Award last Friday following an outstanding season with Athlone Town.

The WNT squad will assemble at their training base in Spain on Monday, November 24th and spend the week working together before facing Hungary – for the 10th time at women’s senior level – on Saturday, November 29th.

The game will not be open to the general public.
