WNT Book Club: Clare Shine

Marie Crowe presents another episode of the Republic of Ireland WNT Book Club with the focus on 'Scoring Goals in the Dark' by Clare Shine with Gareth Maher.

The hard-hitting memoir from the former Ireland international was long-listed for the 2022 William Hill Sports Book of the Year and has been hailed for its raw honesty.

As a young footballer, Clare seemed to have it all. By 19, she was a full-time professional and a senior international, but was also addicted to alcohol, had experimented with drugs and attempted suicide.

This is the story of a girl struggling to find her identity, a journey in search of confidence and self-belief and a remarkable recovery.
