Will Ferry called into Republic of Ireland squad for World Cup qualifiers

Dundee United's Will Ferry has received his first senior international call-up to the Republic of Ireland squad for the upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Portugal and Armenia.

Ferry comes into the squad as both Sammie Szmodics and Callum O'Dowda have been ruled out of the two matches through injury.

The call-up is a reward for Ferry's impressive start to the season in the Scottish Premiership, where he has been a standout performer for Dundee United.

Ireland are set to travel to Lisbon to take on Portugal at the Estádio José Alvalade on Saturday, October 11th (KO 7:45pm), before returning to Dublin to host Armenia at the Aviva Stadium on Tuesday, October 14th (KO 7:45pm).
