The Football Association of Ireland can confirm that Republic of Ireland Men’s Under-21s Assistant Coach Stephen Rice is to depart his role to take up a new position with English Premier League side Brentford.

Following a successful and distinguished playing career in the League of Ireland, Rice first joined the FAI as a Development Officer. His expertise saw him progress to the senior men's national team setup in 2021, where he served as Opposition Analyst and Head Scout under Stephen Kenny.

In 2024, Rice was appointed Assistant Coach to Jim Crawford with the U-21s team, where he has played a key role in the team's development.

Republic of Ireland U-21 Head Coach Jim Crawford said: "Stephen has been an outstanding member of our coaching staff and has made an important contribution since joining the U-21s setup. He leaves with our sincere thanks for his hard work and dedication and we wish him all the very best for the future."

The FAI would like to thank Stephen for his commitment and professionalism during his time with the Association and wishes him every success in his new role.
