Sports Energy Support Scheme (SESS) enters final phase

The Football Association of Ireland has confirmed the launch of the third and final phase of the Sports Energy Support Scheme (SESS) to continue to provide support to FAI affiliated clubs and leagues with the cost of energy.

The SESS scheme provides a fantastic opportunity for clubs or leagues to avail of much-needed funding support and the FAI is urging clubs to apply for their share of the SESS grant following a positive response so far. 

The FAI will lead distribution of the process of these grants and to avail of funding support for increased energy costs associated with providing sporting activity only, clubs and leagues have to meet the eligibility requirements which are outlined below.

Eligibility Requirements:
- Increased energy costs for sporting activity only (electricity, heating, floodlight generator fuel)
- Clubs/Leagues previously funded under Phase One/Two eligible for June & July 2023
- New applicants can apply for entire period (Sep 2022 - July 2023)
- Supporting documents required: utility/energy bills for June & July 2020 and 2023
- Organisations must own/lease sporting facilities and be primary utility bill payers

Not Covered/Not Eligible:
- Non-energy related increases (accommodation, rent, rates, labour)
- Fuel costs for machinery, vehicles, travel
- Pre-existing debts/deficits
- Energy costs for non-sporting activity (bars, restaurants)
- Private/commercial gyms, local authority facilities, school/third level sports facilities

Application Process:
- Complete application form and provide required bills.
- Applications should only include fully substantiated figures backed up with bills.
- Deadline: 6pm on Sunday 24th March 2024 (no late applications accepted).
