The 2024 Sports Direct Women's FAI Cup Final will see Athlone Town and Shelbourne face off on Sunday, October 20th in Tallaght Stadium.

It will be the third straight year that the two teams will compete in the showpiece event with Shelbourne winning in 2022 and Athlone claiming victory last year.

Athlone booked their place in the Final courtesy of a 1-0 win over Sligo Rovers in The Showgrounds, where Shauna Brennan netted the all-important goal.

On 32 minutes, a Madison Gibson corner wasn't fully cleared and the ball landed to Brennan inside the penalty area. Her shot took a deflection off a Sligo defender and diverted into the back of the net.

It was one goal that made the difference in this contest to send the Cup holders back into the Cup Final for a third year in a row.

In the other semi-final, Shelbourne proved to be too strong for Cork City as they recorded a 5-0 triumph in Tolka Park with Noelle Murray scoring twice.

The Reds took the lead on 35 minutes through striker Kate Mooney before Murray converted a penalty to send the home team in at the break with a 2-0 lead.

Eoin Wearen's side increased their advantage within a minute of the restart as Murray got her second of the game and further goals from Christie Gray and Megan Smyth-Lynch sealed the win.

Shelbourne are chasing their third Women's FAI Cup in what will be their sixth appearance in the Final having lifted the trophy in 2016 and again in 2022.

A draw will take place on Monday, September 23rd to designate which team will be confirmed as the home team for a Cup Final that will be broadcast live on RTÉ2.
