REPORT | WU17 | Sweden 3-0 Ireland

Ireland’s impressive run in the UEFA European Women’s Under-17 Championship has come to an end after a 3-0 defeat to Sweden at Kristinibergs, IP in Stokholm for their final match of the competition.

After a valiant effort, the Girls in Green finished in fourth place in Group A1, meaning they will be relegated to League B for the next staging of the competition.

While Sweden managed to put three goals away, Ireland had their fair share of opportunities too with three of their shots hitting the woodwork and a total of 22 attempts on goal, so it is fair to say James Scott's team didn’t go down without a fight.

Ireland have a lot to be proud of in this competition and have learned a lot through their ups and downs and they now have a golden opportunity to work on what they have learned for their next challenge as a team.

Ireland: Lucy Doyle Farrington (Sarah Doyle 71); Lara Dallaghan, Catherine Oliveira, Amelia Fahey, Holly O’Hagan (Halle Harcourt 71); Madison McGuane, Emma Mooney (Kassie McLoughlin 71), Tess Finn (Alex Devoy 56); Hailey Twomey, Ciara Milton, Ellen Goggin (Alice Buggle 46).
