WNT set to return to Pairc Ui Chaoimh for World Cup play-off

Pairc Ui Chaoimh confirmed as host venue for crucial World Cup play-off second leg...

The Republic of Ireland Women’s National Team will return to the venue of one of their greatest triumphs this October, as Páirc Uí Chaoimh is confirmed to host the crucial second leg of the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup Round One Qualifying Play-Off against Kazakhstan.

Following the 3-2 victory over the Netherlands in June — where an 89th-minute goal from Amber Barrett secured a win in front of a brilliant crowd —the Girls in Green are set to bring Play-Off fever back to Leeside on Tuesday, October 13th (KO 7:30pm).

The two-legged tie begins with a challenging trip to the Astana Arena to face Kazakhstan on Friday, October 9th, with kick-off scheduled for 12:00pm Irish Time (4:00pm local time), before the team returns to Cork for the final showdown.

Head Coach Carla Ward is calling on supporters to recreate the electric atmosphere that spurred the team on earlier this summer.

"I am delighted to be heading back to Cork," said Ward. "The Netherlands game was incredibly special, particularly because the Cork crowd showed such passion. The supporters turned up in their droves to get behind the team and truly made a difference.

"We will need the supporters again as this game is crucial. We cannot take Kazakhstan for granted, especially with the significant travel involved between the two legs. We will need everyone in the stands to get behind the team once more to help us get over the line."

Ticket Information

Tickets for the home leg at Páirc Uí Chaoimh will go on pre-sale on August 26th, followed by public sale on August 28th at 10am. Prices will start from €30 for adults and €15 for children, with a high demand expected following the team's previous success in Cork.
