The Ireland Women's Under-17s claimed a 4-0 win over Slovenia in their opening game of an International Tournament in Italy.

Head Coach James Scott is using this tournament as preparation for their upcoming UEFA European Championship qualifiers and he will be pleased with this display.

Defender Amelia Fahey opened the scoring after three minutes when she met an in-swinging free-kick with a strong header to put the Girls in Green in front.

Shelbourne ace Halle Harcourt was next to score on eight minutes before Shamrock Rovers attacker Sophie Byrne got on the end of a cross from Hailey Twomey to make it 3-0.

Ireland made a number of changes at the interval but continued to dominate and added a fourth goal through captain Keelin Comiskey on 53 minutes.

The game was abandoned on the hour mark due to torrential rain but the result stands due to being involved in a tournament.

Ireland: Sarah Doyle; Lara Dallaghan (Holly O'Hagan 46), Amelia Fahey, Keelin Comiskey, Hailey Twomey; Tess Finn, Emma Mooney (Catherine Oliveira 46); Halle Harcourt (Ellen Goggin 46), Sophie Byrne, Caelan Bacon (Alex Devoy 46); Kassie McLoughlin (Ciara Milton 46).
