REPORT | Whitehall Rangers win 2025 FAI Women's Amateur Cup

Whitehall Rangers lifted the FAI Women's Amateur Cup for the second time in their history following a 1-0 victory over Terenure Rangers in the UCD Bowl.

A first-half finish from Leah McHugh sealed the win for a team managed by Grace McAuley Ryan and Jennifer Kett as they avenged last year's loss to Terenure Rangers in the same venue.

McHugh's goal arrived inside the opening two minutes to give Whitehall a flying start and they held that lead going into the interval despite pressure from Terenure.

Terenure went into this game aiming to make it three wins in a row and they returned for the second half fired up with Rachel McLoughlin bringing the best out of goalkeeper Lauren Davies with two snap shots.

The tempo stayed at a hectic pace but it was Terenure who had to keep pushing for an equaliser with Jenny Claffey unloading a shot at goal and Ciara Smith had a certain goal cleared off the line.

On 70 minutes, Terenure had their best chance to draw level when awarded a penalty. Captain Sarah Ryan stepped up but Whitehall stopper Geraghty denied her with a superb save - and then go up to stop the follow-up shot.

Geraghty - who deservedly won the Player of the Match award - kept Whitehall in it and they held on to follow up on their win in 2022 as captain Charlie Graham go to lift the Cup and bring it back to North Dublin.

Whitehall Rangers: Lauren Davies; Izzy Chambers, Caolan Carroll, Emma Boyle, Lara Phipps; Jane McKevitt, Rachel McLoughlin, Naima Chemaou, Leah McHugh; Charlie Graham, Megan Coomber.

Referee: Vicki McEnery.
