REPORT | Wales WU16 1-4 WU16

Two wins from two games against Wales was secured by the Republic of Ireland Women's Under-16s in Newport as they ran out 4-1 winners on Monday.

Goals from Grace Flanagan, Jodie Loughrey, Heidi Macken and Lia O'Leary wrapped up a deserved victory, even though Wales pulled one goal back.

Having won 1-0 on Saturday, Ireland made changes to their starting line-up but that did not alter their approach with every player in the squad contributing and producing impressive displays.

Flanagan got things started with the opening goal on 25 minutes and they held onto that until half-time before breaking loose in the second period, scoring three more times.

These games proved to be worthwhile challenges for Tom Elmes and James Scott, who oversaw the team, as they look to build on the future and aid the development of these talented players.

Wales: Ruby Day, Callie Jones, Lauren Davies, Bethan Marriott, Katie Williams, Elena Cole, Macy Clifton, Yasmin Davies, Keira O'Keefe, Beca Thomas, Isabella Caunt.

Republic of Ireland: Nicole Nix; Niamh Tyrrell, Anna Cantwell, Jill Giles (Heidi Macken 46), Mia McGonnell (Lia O'Leary 46); Jodie Loughrey, Ellen Dolan (Sky Corcoran 65); Isabelle Fitzpatrick (Jess Fitzgerald 65), Ruby Gallagher (Katie Lawlee 55), Joy Ralph; Grace Flanagan (Aoife Kelly 55).

Referee: Dale Randall.
