REPORT | St. Francis win 2025 FAI Women's Amateur Shield

Two first-half goals from Rachel McGrath guided St. Francis to a 2-1 victory over Cabinteely in the 2025 FAI Women's Amateur Shield Final.

A first Final appearance ended with the south Dublin club picking up a first win in this competition as they overcame last year's winners.

Former Bohemians attacker McGrath opened the scoring on 32 minutes when connecting to a pass from Hannah Daly to break the deadlock.

It took just two minutes for St. Francis to increase their lead when captain Holly Rutherford found McGrath and she finished again.

Stuart Smith's team knew that Cabinteely would not give up without a fight and they conceded on 75 minutes when Caitriona McGilp made it 2-1.

However, there would be no dramatic comeback as St. Francis held strong to claim their first win in this competition and make some history.
