The Ireland Women's Under-16s continued their excellent start to a UEFA Development Tournament in Serbia by beating Slovenia 1-0 on Sunday afternoon.

Having won 8-2 against Hungary in their opening game, the Girls in Green were high in confidence going into this second game and made a number of changes to their starting line-up.

There wasn't much between the teams with the only goal of the game arriving on 82 minutes when substitute Aoibhe Brennan found the back of the net.

Dundalk goalkeeper Laura Fanning recorded a clean sheet and Hannah Healy led the team as captain in the first half as Ireland maintained the same approach of playing attacking football that paid off so well in the first game.

Interim Head Coach Megan Smyth-Lynch was aware of the demands being placed on the players with games in such a short space of time, so she made five changes at the interval.

However, Ireland did not falter and continued to play with a positive style. The reward for that came late on when Shelbourne ace Brennan applied the finish that they had been looking for.

There is one game to go - against hosts Serbia on Tuesday - but the Ireland coaching staff can feel satisifed with another laudable performance in this tournament.
