REPORT | Hungary 3-0 WU17

The Ireland Women's Under-17s fell to a 3-0 defeat to Hungary in an International Friendly the Pinatar Arena, Spain.

This was the second of two games against the same opponent with the first game ending in a 3-2 victory for James Scott's team.

Hungary took the lead after 23 minutes when they made the most of a corner kick set-piece and a thumping header appeared to take a deflection on its way into the back of the net.

Ireland found themselves 2-0 down on 32 minutes when a low drive saw the ball skid past goalkeeper Laura Fanning to give the team wearing white a fight to get back into the game.

Scott made three changes at the half-time break with Ella Kelly, Maeve Wollmer and Lauren Bowe coming on. However, they conceded again on 53 minutes when Petra Kovacs fired in.

Next up for this squad is a trip to Lithuania in March to take on the hosts and Faroe Islands in two UEFA WU17 European Championship Qualifiers.

Ireland: Laura Fanning; Heather Loomes, Finley Newell (Beatrice Silickaite 84), Aibhlinn Cotter, Emma Gaughran (Kate Jones 82); Madison McGuane, Sarah McCaffrey (Ella Kelly 46); Leah McGrath (Maeve Wollmer 46), Aoife Colbert Martin (Lauren Bowe 46), Anna Butler (Ava Mullins 82); Ciara Breslin (Aisling Meehan 56).
