REPORT | GU15 | Poland 2-1 Ireland

In their first game of the 2025 UEFA Development Tournament, the Ireland Girls' Under-15s lost 2-1 to Poland in Alicante, Spain.

Wexford forward Mia Whelan put the Girls in Green ahead after 40 minutes but goals from Zuzanna Jędrzejczyk and Evelina Tkachenko turned it back in favour of Poland.

For Head Coach Tom Elmes and the support staff, this was a very encouraging display from a squad of players working together for the first time and it points to a very promising future for all involved.

Poland only got their winning goal deep into added time so Ireland were undone late on, but this defeat should not take anything away from how they approached the game and responded to the challenge.

With games against Spain and Norway to come, this is an exciting time for the Girls' Under-15s as they look to adapt to international football and show their quality as a collective unit.

Ireland: Caoimhe Keating (Megan McGinley 75); Pixie Keddy (Kym McNulty 46), Hattie Farrell, Katie Brogan, Emma Fitzpatrick (Grace Geary 62), Norah Pustay (Ellie Byrne 62); Fiadh Woods (Faith Dawson 62), Daisy Fleming (Mairéad Mullins 46); Maisy Healy (Maia Stokes 46), Mia Whelan (Ava Gallagher 75), Saoirse Reynolds (Ava Hand 62).
