Millenic Alli receives his first call-up to the Republic of Ireland squad

Portsmouth winger Millenic Alli has received his first call-up to the Republic of Ireland Senior Men's National Team for the upcoming international friendly against North Macedonia.

The 26-year-old, who is on loan at Pompey from Luton Town, has enjoyed an impressive spell in the EFL Championship this season, and his performances have now earned him his first opportunity at senior international level.

Dublin-born Alli joined up with Heimir Hallgrímsson’s squad this morning at the FAI National Training Centre. He took part in his first training session as the team began their preparations for Tuesday's match at the Aviva Stadium.

Head Coach Heimir Hallgrímsson has also provided an update on his squad following Thursday's play-off against Czechia. Midfielder Jack Taylor is a doubt for the North Macedonia fixture after travelling home for family reasons.

Meanwhile, forward Sammie Szmodics has returned to his club to continue his recovery after being withdrawn due to a concussion sustained during the play-off match in Prague.

The full squad will continue their preparations at Abbotstown ahead of the match against North Macedonia on Tuesday, March 31, with kick-off at 7.45pm at the Aviva Stadium.
