REPORT | BU16 | Ireland 4-0 Latvia

Ireland Boys Under-16s overcame Latvia 4-0 in the first of three games in a friendly series in Finland this week.

Goals from Manchester United’s Ben Lyne, Shamrock Rovers pair Josh O’Dwyer and Archie Quinn and St. Patrick Athletic’s Blake Devereux Lynch saw Ireland record an impressive victory.

Ireland were ahead after 25 minutes when Lyne was allowed room to cut in from the left-hand side before providing a neat finish into the corner.

In the second half O’Dwyer profited from a corner to net Ireland’s second in the 55th minute.

Quinn would make it 3-0 in the 67th minute after a ball over the top from clubmate Maxim Afonin saw the striker get in on goal before applying the finish.

It was then the turn of a St. Patrick’s Athletic combination as Ethan Kelly’s cross was converted at the far post by Devereux Lynch to complete the scoring.

Next-up for the young Boys in Green are the hosts Finland on Monday afternoon.
