REPORT | BU16 | Harpur hits hat-trick in 5-0 win over Canada

Ireland Boys Under-16s put five past Canada in their second game of the UEFA Development Tournament in Croatia.

A hat-trick from Bohemians’ Josh Harpur as well as goals from Cork City’s Tom McGrath and Dundalk’s TJ Molloy saw Ireland run-out 5-0 winners against their Canadian counterparts in an excellent display.

Looking to bounce back after their 3-2 defeat to hosts Poland, Ireland came out the blocks fastest, for the second game running, when Harpur headed the young Boys in Green in front in the sixth minute.

McGrath would make 2-0 just after the half-hour mark before Harpur netted his second of the game from the penalty spot.

It was a dominant display from Paul Osam’s side and Harpur would ensure he took home the matchball when he scored his third of the game - his fourth goal in two games.

Molloy would seal a perfect afternoon for Ireland when he made it 5-0 in the 67th minute - just five minutes after coming on as a substitute.

Ireland are next in action on Sunday morning when they face north African opposition in Egypt.
