Galway United’s Ronan Keating had the honour of scoring his team’s first goal of the season on the day he was named captain and it was followed by a second by Athlone Town’s Fionn McCormack-Crowe.
Waterford’s Nathan Power scored late on with St. Patrick Athletic’s Jakub Kowalewski saving a penalty to cap off a brilliant day’s work for the young Irish team.
Ireland had come into the game after suffering defeats to hosts Portugal and Ukraine and were intent on ending the year on a high.
After 17 minutes Ireland were ahead. Connor Hudson played a ball through to Keating whose first attempt was saved but on the follow up he netted for 1-0.
Sixteen minutes later it was 2-0. Hudson was involved again this time beating to players before playing to McCormack-Crowe who curled his effort home.
Greece got back into the game in the second half after scoring directly from a free-kick, but substitute Nathan Power wrapped up the game when his turn and shot beat Chrysoulakis.
Greece had an opportunity to make the final few minutes a nervy encounter when they were awarded a penalty by Kowalewski dived to his left to deny Greek captain Evgenios Dimopoulos.
