Terenure Rangers are aiming to make it three in a row in winning the FAI Women’s Amateur Cup as they prepare to meet Whitehall Rangers in Sunday’s Final.

The two Dublin clubs faced off in last year’s Final – at the same venue in the UCD Bowl – with Terenure claiming a 2-1 triumph having previously overcome Bonagee United in 2023.

Now, Head Coach Caroline Kelly will be hoping that history is repeated for the Dublin 6 club but a formidable Whitehall Rangers outfit, led by Grace McAuley Ryan and Jennifer Kett, are plotting their own fairytale ending.

Terenure Rangers defender Ciara Smith reckons team spirit has been their secret to success and it is what they will using once again to supercharge their drive for a three-peat.

“We’re feeling really good about it. It’s an opportunity to win three in a row, a great opportunity for the club and for everyone who puts in so much work behind it. We’ve been doing a lot of hard work in the training sessions and preparing for the game on Sunday,” said Smith.

“We’re quite ambitious as to what we want to do as a squad; we really believe in each other and I think that’s the most important thing with us at Terenure is we trust one another on gameday and we definitely fight for each other all of the time.”

Whitehall Rangers captain Charlie Graham knows all about the need to perform in big games and she believes that her new-look team can rise to the occasion and claim victory.

“We’re excited. We had a rebuild this season with a new management team and some new players. But Sunday is a fun day out, two great teams on show, UCD Bowl, everybody should come out to watch and see the women’s amateur game in Ireland,” said Graham.

“Obviously last year Terenure beat us 2-1 and that was disappointing but I do think with the new additions we have a new impetus to push on this year and hopefully we can get the result.”

This is the 18th year of the competition where there have been 14 different winners, including Terenure Rangers (2) and Whitehall Rangers (1). The battle to crown the 2025 winner will be settled on Sunday.
