Neither team have won this competition yet but Waterford did reach last year’s Final, only to lose narrowly to three-time winners Eastern Women’s Football League.
On what is the 10th anniversary of this competition, this Sunday’s Final is a local rivalry of sorts considering the two teams already met in Series 1 and 2, with Waterford claiming victory on both occasions.
Waterford Head Coach Tommy Butler is not taking anything for granted, including home advantage or the fact that his team have scored 16 goals en route to the Final. Butler knows that his team must perform on the day in order for captain Lisa Dower to get the opportunity to lift the trophy in victory.
"As a group we're together two years now and some of our players have been around a long time, so it would be great for the girls to get over the line on Sunday," said Butler.
"We got to the Final last year and were beaten 1-0 and in front of goal we weren't too hot so we knew it was something that we had to address this year. We're happy so far with that side of things and we definitely have a few more options in the forward areas.
"Last year we had a game-plan but probably didn't create enough on the day. Hopefully this time we can get it right, be more on the front foot with our attacking and get over the line, but we know that we will be playing a good Wexford team."
Wexford overcame Donegal Women’s League in the Quarter-Finals before beating Clare District League in the Semi-Finals. Now they are ready for this final challenge.
Head Coach Barry Roche insists his team – led by captain Leona Breen – must bring a positive mindset into the game and believe that they can win. If they do then he is backing their individual and collective talent to give them a fighting chance.
"Women's football is on a real high in Wexford right now so if we were to win this Cup it would give the league and everyone involved in women & girls' football in the county a real lift," said Roche.
"I think having a successful League of Ireland team definitely helps with the profile and it gives girls an extra motivation to push on.
"We know what we are going into in this game and there's no getting away from it they are a very good side. We'll have to be really at on the day to match them but if we turn up and play to our potential I believe we have a chance to win it."
