MATCH OFFICIALS CONFIRMED FOR THE FAI MENS AND WOMENS CUP FINALS

Damian MacGraith and Sean Grant have been appointed as the referees for this season’s Extra.ie FAI Cup Final and Evoke.ie FAI Women’s Cup Final.

For the Extra.ie FAI Cup Final between Derry City and Shelbourne FC on Sunday 13th November, Damian will be assisted by Christopher Campbell and Brian Fenlon, while the fourth official will be Ben Connolly. The reserve assistant referee role goes to Robert Clarke. Paul Deering, a successful former League of Ireland FIFA assistant referee has been appointed as referee observer for the final.

Damian began his refereeing career in 2002 and was promoted the FIFA list of assistant referees in 2007. Damien began refereeing the League of Ireland in 2017 after an incredibly successful ten-year period as an assistant referee. He has previously been appointed to Senior Cup Finals in assistant referee, additional assistant referee and fourth official roles.

In the Evoke.ie FAI Women’s Cup Final between Shelbourne FC and Athlone Town FC on Sunday 6th November, Sean will be assisted by Ciaran Delaney and Fintan Butler while the fourth official will be Ray Matthews. The reserve assistant referee role goes to Eoin Harte. John Ward, a former FIFA assistant referee and current UEFA observer has been appointed as referee observer for the final.

Sean began his refereeing career in 2002 and was first appointed to the League of Ireland panel in 2005. Sean was appointed as the fourth official for the 2020 FAI Cup Final between Shamrock rovers and Dundalk FC.

Both referees are graduates of the FAI School of Excellence programme.
