Kiltullagh Pioneers A.F.C. Claim Club Mark

Kiltullagh Pioneers A.F.C. have been awarded the FAI Club Mark.

Kiltullagh Pioneers A.F.C. was founded in 1979 and is located in the village of Kiltullagh, County Galway.

The clubs name originates from the pioneering nature of starting a soccer club in a rural Galway community in the 1970’s.

In their first season the club Kiltullagh Pioneers were without a home pitch before moving to the current grounds location at Castlepark Kiltullagh.

Before 2013 Kiltullagh mainly fielded Junior Mens teams but the club has now grown to have over 380 members (boys and girls). The club fields 16 competitive teams in the Galway and District Leagues from adult men’s and women’s teams through to U10 and large academy groups.

From 2018, the Club Committee embarked on an ambitious program to develop the facilities which now boasts a full length grass pitch, a full length floodlit all-weather pitch, dressing rooms and a 9-a-side pitch.

The club would like to thank the Club Mark Committee, Club Officers and Coaches for their efforts to achieve the Club Mark Entry Level award and to all the committee, coaches and volunteers for their continued support and dedication to the club.

The FAI Club Mark is free and optional for clubs and aims to:

  • Improve the management of clubs ‘off the field’
  • Establish and promote best practice
  • Empower and support clubs
  • Recognise and reward clubs for achieving high standards
  • Increase a club’s capacity to operate effectively and grow football in communities throughout Ireland.
