Ireland Powerchair squad set for World Cup campaign

The Republic of Ireland Powerchair Football Squad are set to kick-off their World Cup campaign tomorrow against Denmark in Sydney, Australia.

The Ireland squad travelled to Australia earlier in the month to prepare for their 2023 FIPFA Powerchair Football World Cup which is set to take place at Sydney Olympic Park next week.

It signals the return of the tournament which had to be postponed twice due to the pandemic but now the Republic of Ireland are set to take their place amongst the other top-nine nations in the world to compete for the World Cup.

Ireland will be looking to build on a sixth-place finish last time out with impressions for the tournament positive due to their third-placed finish at the European Nations Cup in Finland in 2019.

Not only that but the Irish team recently secured some impressive friendly victories against England at St. Georges Park so Ireland will be hopeful of having a strong week down under.

A round-robin format where every team plays each other, the top four teams go into the finals stage to decide the winner with Ireland hopeful of being one of the top four.
