Cup goals inspiring Bohs star McEvoy

Bohemians forward Alannah McEvoy knows that goals win games and they can also lead her team to glory in the 2025 Sports Direct Women's FAI Cup.

The Dublin club are through to their first ever Final in this competition and McEvoy - who previously won it with Peamount United - knows just how special this opportunity is.

Wicklow native McEvoy is this year's leading goalscorer courtesy of her hat-trick in the Quarter-Final victory over Newbridge Town and she is keen to hold onto that title.

"i was delighted to get the hat-trick against Newbridge because I was waiting for the goals to kick in this season. It was around that time that I started to get in form again so I needed those goals," said McEvoy.

"I know there are a couple of girls just a goal behind me, including some on the Athlone Town team, so it would be great to finish as top goalscorer in this year's Cup."

McEvoy reckons success in the Sports Direct Women's FAI Cup could trigger a whole new era for Bohemians. They fell short in the All-Island Cup Final this year, but the game in Tallaght Stadium against Athlone Town on Sunday, October 19th could be massive for so many reasons.

"If we go on to win the Cup, people will look at us in a different way. We've made a big step by reaching the Final but to win it would be something else. Teams are starting to respect us and see the football that we have been playing, so all that is missing is some silverware - even though we still have more to give and to build on," said McEvoy.

"To win the Women's FAI Cup would mean so much, especially representing Bohs in their first ever Final in this competition. It would be such a proud moment for the club."
