Quotes

Ireland Men’s Under-21 captain Conor McManus said: “The message between us as a group has been you have to play with the pride to wear the jersey and the crest on the front. You’re not only playing for yourself, but your family, your friends, and the young kids watching. You need to set an example for them. The least you can is bring the energy and do things right and if we do that we have the quality to get a result in an otherwise difficult place.”

Men’s Under-21 Head Coach Jim Crawford said: “These are the games you want to be part of. I’d sooner be involved in high pressured games than dead rubbers and although this is a young squad this is where they learn about what it takes to be an international footballer. We saw the seniors last week go to a hostile environment and perform and it’s for this group to do the same. Kazakhstan are a very good team.”
