Amateur International: Conor Coad names 22-man squad for Defence Forces tie

The Republic of Ireland Amateur International squad face the Irish Defence Forces at Wayside Celtic tomorrow night as Coad names a completely changed squad for the fixture.

Head Coach Conor Coad has named a 22-man squad for the fixture as he continues to assess his options, with this squad being completely different from the one that faced the FAI ETB XI in a recent friendly.

The match provides another valuable opportunity for players to stake their claim for a place in the squad for upcoming competitive fixtures, with many set to get their first taste of action at this level.

Speaking ahead of the game, Republic of Ireland Amateur International Head Coach Conor Coad said: "We're looking forward to another good test and want to build on the positive result and performance we had against the ETB XI. The Defence Forces are a strong, well-organised outfit and always present a difficult task for us, so it will be a different kind of challenge.

"This is a great chance for us to look at more players. It’s a completely different squad from the last game, which gives us a fantastic opportunity to assess a wider pool. For many of these lads, it will be their first experience in an Ireland Amateur international set-up, so it will be really good to see how they get on. It’s really important for us to assess as many players as possible at this stage, and we're looking forward to it."
