The Ireland Men’s Under-17s finished the Syrenka Cup with a 3-2 win over Czechia in the Sulejówek Municipal Stadium, Poland.

Having lost to Georgia on penalties, following a 2-2 draw, and went down 2-1 to Poland, the young Boys in Green were determined to bounce back and that is exactly what they did.

Shamrock Rovers attacker Corey Fay broke the deadlock after 26 minutes following some neat play and then Galway United ace Ronan Keating netted his second of this tournament three minutes later.

Ireland made seven changes at the break but that did not disrupt their rhythm as they largely controlled possession of the ball and pushed their opponents back into their own half.

Czechia pulled a goal back on 59 minutes and then drew level on 80 minutes, but Ireland benefitted from a late own goal from goalkeeper Filip Rucka on 87 minutes to wrap up a three-game tournament with a deserved win.
