Maeve Wollmer and Ella Kelly were both on target for the Ireland Women's Under-17s as they fell to a 3-2 defeat to Denmark in their final Group A6 Qualifier.

Following losses to Spain and Austria, James Scott's team were aiming to bounce back in this game in L' Alfaz del Pi, Spain. However, Denmark struck first and held onto that lead.

A goal just before the interval from Andrea Leervad Thierry put the Danes in front and the same player scored again on 57 minutes to ensure her team stayed in control.

The Girls in Green continued to fight and got their reward on 71 minutes when a shot from Maeve Wollmer took a deflection off Anna Butler before flying into the back of the net.

Just when a fightback looked to be on, Carla Domino netted a third goal for Denmark. Substitute Ella Kelly did pull one back in added time but the game was as good as over by then.

Ireland: Jenna Willoughby (Laura Fanning 84); Madison McGuane, Michaela Hand (Heather Loomes 55), Finley Newell, Aibhlinn Cotter; Fiona McCormick, Sarah McCaffrey (Sophia Leonard 68); Anna Butler, Maeve Wollmer, Mary Hartofilis (Ella Kelly 46); Leah McGrath (Aisling Meehan 55).
