BU16 | Ireland head to Netherlands for friendly series

The Republic of Ireland Boys Under-16s will travel to the Netherlands this week for a series of international friendly fixtures.

The young Boys in Green will face Denmark on Friday (April 10th), before taking on Sweden on Sunday (April 12th). They will conclude the series against hosts the Netherlands on Tuesday (April 14th).

The tournament is being utilised by participating nations as a development-focused ‘Futures Event’.

Ireland’s approach centres on supporting ongoing development within the player pathway, with a squad that combines players who have already gained international experience with others being brought into the environment for the first time. The aim is to introduce players to different challenges and roles as part of their progression.

Of the 19-player squad, 18 currently play in the League of Ireland. This includes Dundalk’s Jamie Grace and Shelbourne’s Seanan Fisher, who both receive their first international call-ups.
