Made up of representatives from the Munster region, the Ireland squad bounced back from an opening defeat to Belarus to overcome Malta and then win this Group 8 decider.
Jason Purcell's side needed to finish on top to make it through to next year's Finals Tournament and even though they fell behind on 70 minutes there was no way that they were going to lose this contest.
A brace from substitute Luke Casey, either side of a finish from Adam Conway, ensured that the home team were celebrating at the final whistle as they had a superior goal difference to both Belarus and Croatia who all ended up on six points.
The 8-0 victory over Malta ultimately put Ireland in control of their own destiny but they had to complete the job in Cork here and that is exactly what they did with a cracking end to the game.
The squad of 18 players will now look forward to the Draw to discover their opponents in the Finals Tournament as they hope to become the first Ireland team since 2015 to win this competition.
