REPORT | BU16 | Greece late winner denies Ireland

Ireland Boys Under-16s suffered a last minute 2-1 defeat to Greece in Bray in the first of two friendlies between the teams this week.

Greece were ahead in 69th minute when a corner wasn’t dealt with and after a couple of half clearances it fell to a Greece player to fire it into the net.

Ireland were back in the game in the last minute when Josh O’Dwyer’s strike was saved by the goalkeeper but it fell to Jamie O’Donnell who was able to tap home for the equaliser.

But almost immediately from the kick-off Greece went up the other end and scored in additional time to earn the win.

The teams face each other again on Thursday evening at The Carlisle Grounds.
