MU17 | Osam names squad for friendlies in Hungary

Ireland Men’s Under-17s Head Coach Paul Osam has named a 20-player squad for three friendlies in Hungary this week.

Osam was announced as the MU17s Head Coach for the 2025/26 group last week as part of a realignment of the Ireland underage coaching structure designed to allow Colin O’Brien to fully focus on preparing his team for the Under-17s World Cup in Qatar.

The squad flew out to Hungary earlier today and will take on Türkiye on Tuesday (August 12) followed by Iceland on Thursday (August 14). They end the competition by taking on the hosts on Saturday (August 16).

There are first-time call-ups for Joey Wuna of Shelbourne, Ryan Sheridan of St. Patrick’s Athletic and goalkeeper Xander Grives of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Shamrock Rovers pair Josh O’Dwyer and Archie Quinn are named in the MU17s having impressed with the Boys Under-15s last year. Both players captained Ireland throughout the season with Quinn netting 10 international goals in 11 games.

The trio of friendlies will form part of the preparation for competitive action in October where they’ll take on Kosovo and Faroe Island in the first round of qualifiers for the 2026 U17 EUROs.
